Slim Pickens

Donnell "Slim Pickens" Kennedy started playing bass guitar at a young age as a challenge from his step-father. Once he heard the sounds of Jimi Hendrix's "Purple Haze", he knew that he was meant to play guitar.

For a few short months, Donnell took guitar lessons but his family was unable to continue to afford them. However, determined to keep playing, Donnell would sit for hours recording any musical performance on VHS of his favorite artists, then watch them over and over again until he began to catch on. Self-taught with the desire to learn more, Donnell started playing piano a few years later, in which he says helped expand his musical knowledge. 



Inspired by the greats like Prince, Jimi Hendrix, Eddie Hazel and Randy Rhoads, Donnell's cool cosmic sound adds the season to the Speaker Minds' melting pot. The young creator continues to push himself to  learn more and challenge himself.
